1) What is the AWPT?

The Academic Writing Placement Test (AWPT) is a 60-minute test with only one academic essay writing task (minimum 250 words). The task is scored on a nine-point scale.

2) Who needs to take the AWPT?

The new students who took the online EET or submitted a certificate of English medium of instruction must take the AWPT before they can register for their courses using their student information system (SIS) account.

4) What should I do if I can’t take the AWPT based on the timetable above?

  •  New students who submitted the English medium of instruction certificate and will not be able to arrive in Thailand during the start of the semester can send an email to languages@ait.asia to register for the online AWPT.
  •  New students who took the online EET but won’t be arriving on our campus during the first few weeks of classes should also send an email to languages@ait.asia.

5) What happens next after I have taken the AWPT?

  •  Students should check their English score on the SIS website (http://sis.ait.ac.th or http://somsis.ait.ac.th).
  •  Students with scores of 5.0 and 5.5 on AWPT or its equivalent (e.g.: IELTS/TOEFL writing score, etc.) are required to attend compulsory English writing courses and complete them with a passing grade in order to graduate.
