Important!!: Academic Writing Placement Test (AWPT) for August 2020 Semester

It is our policy that all new students have an English score which is referred to as the AWPT score in the Student Information System (SIS). This AWPT score is required for all degree course and EL course registrations.

New students who took EET on AIT campus at the Language Center OR took EET at AIT’s organized Roadshows or at events organized by the 3 Schools OR have submitted an official score of IELTS or TOEFL will not be required to take the AWPT. Their EET/IELTS/TOEFL score will be automatically converted to the AWPT score. Such students can start registering for degree and EL courses immediately when registration is open.

However, new program students who have taken our Online EET OR taken EET with our testing partners in Vietnam and in Myanmar OR have submitted a certificate of English medium of instruction must take the AWPT in order to obtain the AWPT score and to register for their degree courses and remedial English classes if necessary.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, Language Center is offering 2 different AWPT formats to ensure that new students who are required to take the test can do so regardless of where they are at the beginning of the semester.

On-campus AWPT:

The on-campus version of the test is at 8:30am or 10am Thailand time on August 4 -6. Students who are required to take this version of the test during this period are:

  • those who took online EET and are on campus
  • those who took EET with our testing partners in Myanmar or Vietnam, and are on campus
  • those who submitted a certificate of English medium of instruction and are on campus

Online AWPT:

The online version of the test is at 1pm Thailand time on August 5-7. Students who are required to take this version of the test during this period are:

  • those who submitted a certificate of English medium of instruction and are unable to travel to AIT campus in the first week of the semester

Important!! New students who took online EET OR took EET with our testing partners in Myanmar or Vietnam and are unable to come to the campus in the first week of the August 2020 semester will be required to take on-campus AWPT when they arrive on campus. They must contact Language Center once they are on campus in order to take the AWPT. Until then, Language Center will use their EET score as the AWPT score so that they can start registering for their degree and EL courses. However, it must be noted here that their scores and thus their EL course registration may be adjusted based on the on-campus AWPT.
