This test is available for applicants outside of Thailand or in remote provinces of Thailand such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, or Songkhla.

Test format

A 60-minute online test, which consists of a description of data (75-100 words), and an essay (250 – 300 words)

Testing platform

We use Google Hangout as the platform, so applicants must have a Gmail account in order to access the test session and must know how to use the application. Test takers must prepare two cameras with one camera showing your face and the other showing the entire desk so that we can see the computer screen and your working space in front of the computer.

NOTE: Internet connections and cameras are crucial facilities for invigilating the online test. You have the responsibility to ensure that the two cameras and the Internet connection work properly during the test.

If the connection is not stable, we reserve the rights to terminate your online test. The test taker will receive no score and test fee will not be refunded.

Pay at the AIT Cashier

  • You must prepare two cameras with one camera showing your face and the other showing the entire desk so that we can see the computer screen and your working space in front of the computer.
  • You must have good internet connections.
  • You must join the given link at least 15-20 minutes before 9.30AM (Thailand time). Late arrival will not be allowed to take the test.
  • You must know how to use Google Hangout –e.g., how to open the chat channel and how to turn on the camera. If you do not know how to use it, you must familiarize yourself with it on your own before the test day. 
  • No phones, dictionaries or online sources while testing. Text cannot be copied and pasted while composing your essay.Your answers will be checked for originality.  There are serious consequences at AIT for those who plagiarize or copy.
  • Do not open any browsers once you have started the test.
  • You have the responsibility to ensure that you follow our test instructions above. We reserve the rights to terminate our online test. If your test has been terminated, you will receive no score and the test fee will not be refunded.

Your test result will be e-mailed within 3-7 working days after the test date. The Language Center will report the test result to the AIT Admissions only if the score is satisfactory for provisional admission.

You are required upon arrival to sit AIT’s Academic Writing Placement Test (AWPT) under our testing conditions to validate your score. This test score will be used to demonstrate that you have or have not fulfilled AIT’s language requirement for graduation.
